It may not be his first screen appearance but it's his first feature role. Who can name this film? And for extra credit, what is his first line in it?..it's totally CW, sets the tone for all his work after.
Hint: in the credits he's listed, "and introducing Christopher Walken"
And no IMDB'ing! Reach for something higher, please.

Wed, July 7, 2004 - 6:09 PMNah, it was 'Annie Hall' (right?), where he's suicidal and talks about killing himself, describing it as if it's a poem or something. I don't remember the exact words though... -

Thu, July 8, 2004 - 1:35 PMChris ain't in Annie Hall for very long but you stll need to see it. And the Deer Hunter, Annie both follow this role. Give it a couple more guesses and I'll spill the beans. -

Thu, July 8, 2004 - 1:44 PMAw, shoot. I'm at a loss then.
Not 'The Sentinel', right? He didn't exactly have a big part in that one... Man, I love that movie though, even though many people say it sucks. -

Re: walken trivia
Thu, July 8, 2004 - 1:51 PMIt's got to be something further back, something around 70 or 71 - Walken started his career in the mid-60s, doing mostly TV - and I'm thinking it might be a crime caper starring Sean Connery, though I'm completely at a loss about the name of it. I remember seeing it on TV a couple of years ago and marvelling at how young Walken was in it. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: walken trivia
Thu, July 8, 2004 - 2:06 PMNo, it can't be... If the credits say "Introducing Christopher Walken", it must be something earlier. Right?
I'm sooo tempted at going over to IMdb right now... -

Re: walken trivia
Sat, July 10, 2004 - 5:11 PMWe used to have this film at the video store I worked at under two different AWFUL titles that it was released on video under "The Demon Within" and "The Mind Snatchers". The first was marketed as a horror film, the second a sci-fi picture. The actual title was The Happiness Cage. Walken refers to this film often in interviews, and of the period after it as the lowest point in his career. Because it was his first lead role and he didn't work for several years after making it. -

Re: walken trivia
Tue, July 13, 2004 - 3:49 PMFrankenstein Jones...you're the closest we have to a winner. Chris was a child actor and was credited early on as Ronnie.
However the Anderson Tapes with Sean Connery and directed by Sidney Lumet was the "...and introducing Christopher Walken"
movie. I wish I had a prize for you F.J., but since no-one actually guessed correctly. Chris plays a character named The Kid and has very few lines, but man they give him one in his first scene that makes the whole flick About Walken. That and you've never seen The Hair look so good.
